Given that the McCain camp is manufacturing distortions and outright lies faster than most of us can keep track of, I thought I'd do a quick outline of the campaign's top exaggerations of Palin's FP Experience:
1) Alaska is close to Russia!
2) She has "command" over Alaska's National Guard units
3) Negotiating fishing treaties is significant FP experience (see the post from 9/5/08)
The US Center for Global Engagement has a more detailed look at her scant actions related to international relations during her short tenure as Governor.
While some are laughing at the absurdity of her nomination, according to today's Politico, GOP foreign policy experts are not happy with McCain's decision.

Three comments:
1. Bill Clinton used the same "command" over National Guard units line in 1992. He also mentioned the fact that Arkansas housed the Mariel Boat Lift Cubans. What's good for the goose...
2. Harry Truman's foreign policy creds were?
3. You've conspicuously left out the fact that after a 20-year deadlock over a Canadian gas pipeline, she negotiated a privately funded line (the largerest private construction project in history) in 20 months. Act of Omission or Commission?
1. Bill Clinton ran a campaign on domestic issues in a period after the end of the Cold War. We have two hot wars, a war on terror, and still haven't captured OBL - that's why FP experience is critical in 2008. Saying that Palin is qualified in FP is bogus and, frankly, puts our safety at risk.
2. You got me on Truman, although I'd think sitting in the co-polit's seat then supervising the close of WWII is pretty substantial.
3. I don't understand how a privately-funded pipeline through Canada, of all places, is preparation for managing the military in a vitally dangerous time.
1. In this vitally dangerous time, what precisely is Obama's foreign policy experience? How does it trump Palin's?
2. You do realize that by even addressing Palin's quals, you've lost the argument. She's the VP, not the Pres.
3. With regard to the Canadian pipeline, the issue is foreign policy experience. You're conflating our currents wars, which are obviously military issues (albeit with foreign policy implications), with foreign policy.
4. What were Truman's quals PRIOR to becoming VP? And let's remember that FDR trusted him so much that he didn't bother to tell him about the Manhattan Project. Was Truman at Yalta? FDR was dying, why didn't he send him?
1. you just changed the subject, bradford.
2. Palin will be a 72-year old heartbeat from the most important job on the planet. McCain choosing her shows he's more interested in playing politics than governing responsibly.
3. Again, please clarify. I think you're reaching on how a pipeline negotiation with Canada, our closest ally and a member of NAFTA, counts as significant FP know-how.
4. Again, you've got me beat on Truman history. Perhaps FDR realized that good judgment was more important than experience?
