How important is it for Obama's VP to have strong foreign policy credentials?

Of course, your answer to this depends on how you assess Obama's standalone foreign policy credentials and the role you imagine for the Vice President after the inaugural.

Thoughts? Any favorite candidates?

Big fan of Obama/Richardson.

I'd say "very" - Obama may have great advisers and great positions, but having an old hand at int'l negotiations is important. Especially given the expanded powers that Cheney has claimed for the office of the VP. Someone who can contribute international credentials to the ticket will be a real asset, particularly when the debates start.
