It is interesting how the McCain campaign is being so inconsistent with its message on Iraq: was McCain a staunch supporter of President Bush's war effort or was he not? On this Sunday's Meet the Press, Carly Fiorina - a top McCain adviser - said that McCain has stood up to President Bush and Secretary Rumsfeld on Iraq repeatedly and declared that those who say McCain was “aligned” with Bush on Iraq are trying to “change history.”
Maybe she can explain why McCain himself has been very clear about his enthusiastic support for Bush's Iraq effort all along. Just a few months ago, he even declared, “no one has supported President Bush on Iraq more than I have.”
ThinkProgress has a great posting about this inconsistency and provides numerous examples of when McCain sought to align himself with President Bush.

It's a disturbing sign that Carly Fiorina is one of the people surrounding McCain. Keep in mind that the board of HP fired for her performance, including her authorization of a leak investigation to spy on members of the Board.
